If I decline a rotation site

    Hi all,

Does anyone have an idea, what will happen if I decline a rotation site offered to me? Will I go all the way back on the waiting list, or they'll offer this one to a student who is after me on the list, and will offer me the next site?

P.S. I have no preference as far as the hospitals, except one site where I don't want to rotate, so I want to know what can happen in advance.

    Thanks a lot for info!

my best advice to you is to not turn anything down. --- i wouldn't doubt it if they would put you back on the waiting list. all of us are sitting here would take anything given to us, and you might want to consider doing the same.

I agree with tperrin in that turning down a rotation after i assume you waited a couple of months may not be a good idea. Who knows maybe you can work something out with your clinical coordinator but i think there pretty backlogged.

last time i heard they knock you to the bottom of the list but my coordinator has been pretty flexible with me and took requests until i was happy with my schedule. i was initially scheduled to move around all over the place but she was able to adjust my rotations so i only move once over the next year.

    Hi rahulb!

I just realised (while reading your post) that the coordinators schedule you ahead for all of the rotations. Did I get that right? And they inform you of your schedule for 75 weeks ahead of time?

    Thanks!

there were two points in the last year when i didn't know what i was supposed to do in the subsequent few weeks (maryland general cancellation and atlanta cancellation). both times i was offered new rotations within a few days and didn't actually waste any time.

other than that i've been scheduled for months at a time. right now i have everything i need and hope nothing else changes lol
