Rotations question
Sree or Mr. Tipton,
I was wondering if it is possible to schedule most of my rotations in Chicago. My girlfriend and I live there and would like to minimize time away from each other. Can you tell me if this is possible? Can you tell me what rotations I can complete there for sure? thanks alot |

It depends on where you want to practice eventually.
If you're thinking about one of the stricter states like Michigan, Georgia, Connecticut, etc., then all you can do in Chicago is FM, IM and IM electives. If you're thinking about a more lenient state like New York or Illinois, then you can do everything there.

Sree,
saw this list on another page on valuemd. is it correct? States that require all core be Green book: Alabama Arkansas California Conneticut DC Delaware Florida Georgia Kentucky Maine Massachusetts New Jersey New York* Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania Texas Virginia * Only rotations done in the state of New York must be completed in ACGME or AOA approved programs. |

Why not Neurology?

As far as I know, a Neurology elective isn't Greenbook just because it's offered by a hospital which has an ACGME-accredited IM program. There needs to be a Neurology residency or fellowship affiliated with clerkship. But it's just an elective, so only the really strict states - TX, PA, NV - care, rather than the states I listed on in my (edited) post.
