******** : about Psychiatric core..........

First of all thank you for helping everyone in this forum.

My next scheduled core rotation is psychiatry.I know you are currently doing your psy rotation. Could you please tell me what are the things I need to know before I'm going to start ( what should I study?) , what are the text books I should buy, Do I need anything beside steth, reflex hammer and penlight?

Normally what time we should go & what time we can leave?.Is there any on call?.Do we have an examination at the end of the rotation?.How they will evaluate a student? How they will grade?.Is it good to collect recommendation letters form someone while we are rotating?

thanks.

If you're doing your rotation at St. John's Episcopal Hospital, then you don't need a stethoscope or any of the other tools you listed.

Your timings depend on your assignment within the rotation, which is random. Some people are done at noon, others have to stay till 4, etc. Yes, there's an exam - it doesn't count yet, but it might in the future. You are evaluated by the attending you are assigned to just like any other rotation.

I found Blueprints and Case Files as adequate sources for the rotation.
