List of green core rotations for aua
Hey everyone
I was a bit bored during immunology and decided to go through the acgme website and cross match our list of hospitals with their accredited programs list to compile a list of hospitals that are green by department and also by the state the hospital is located in. These are only for the core rotations and if i have more time i will try and work on the green electives. I just wanted to emphasize that this information was taken out of the acgme website and i am aware that the acgme website is not updated regularly so please bear with me. The acgme link is ACGME Accredited Program and Institutional Listing - Public Access . INTERNAL MEDICINE: 12 weeks NEW YORK: Brooklyn Hospital Center St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Mount Vernon Hospital Wyckoff Heights Medical Center Sound Shore Medical Center CONNECTICUT: Griffin Hospital ILLINOIS: Michael Reese Hospital MARYLAND: Harbor Hospital Franklin Square Hospital Union Memorial Hospital PUERTO RICO: San Juan City Hospital SURGERY: 12 weeks NEW YORK: Sound Shore Medical Center MARYLAND: Union Memorial Hospital Michigan: St. Joseph-Oakland PEDIATRICS: 6 weeks NEW YORK: Wyckoff Heights Medical Center PUERTO RICO: San Juan City Hospital OBGYN : 6 weeks Maryland: Franklin Square Hospital Michigan: North Oakland Medical Center Puerto Rico: San Juan City Hospital PSYCHIATRY: 6 weeks DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA: St. Elizabeth’s hospital FAMILY MEDICINE: 6 weeks NEW YORK: Southside Hospital St. Clare’s Hospital of Schenectady Wyckoff Heights Medical Center MARYLAND: Franklin Square Hospital ILLINOIS: Jackson Park Hospital MICHIGAN: Genesys Regional Medical Center North Oakland Medical Center Total 48 weeks or 336 days If i have missed any hospitals i do apologize and would hope that you could add to this list. Hope this helps * I have updated a few of the corrections that Sree pointed out (about Brooklyn hospital and Sheppard Pratt) Last edited by gatornation : 02-05-2008 at 10:42 AM. |

Good job. There's a few small changes though.
1. As of a month ago, we only have a contract with Brooklyn Hospital for IM and electives. 2. Sheppard Pratt in Maryland only allows us to do Psych electives not the Psych core, as of a few months ago 3. North Oakland Hospital does not plan to renew its ACGME-accreditation for Ob/Gyn after July of this year. However St. Joseph-Mercy Oakland hospital (rumor has it) just got its osteopathic Ob/Gyn program ACGME-approved - so they have a combined MD-DO program there starting this July. 4. Union Memorial, as of two months ago, does not allow AUA students to do General Surgery core or Orthopedics. It is commendable that you took the time to look this stuff up though. ~0% of my classmates leaving the island had any idea what a Greenbook rotation was before our fifth semester. If you guys, through the SGA, start pushing for Greenbook rotations now, you might have a far more pleasant clinical experience in the future.

Thanks Sree, i wasn't aware of the importance that many states place on green rotations for residency until a month ago and i am shocked that many students here at aua are clueless about their importance let alone know what they are. I am definitely going to push for our SGA to educate students on green rotations and their importance.

When I looked up Wyckoff Heights I did not see a pediatrics for ACGME accredation. Can someone help explain to me how it is accredited. Also, San Juan is the only other option we have? Is the school trying to add more peds hospitals?

Wyckoff is accredited through Brooklyn Hospital's pediatrics program. Do a search on acgme.org for Brooklyn Hospital's program, and you'll see Wyckoff listed as a teaching affiliate.
Ross recently acquired 60 more spots at Wyckoff (displacing non-Ross students) and this takes effect 7/08 so get yourself scheduled there if you haven't already.
