Mass isn't Caribbean frinedly state. If you look at stats of US IMG's getting residency Mass is very low on the list. States that take alot of US IMG's are the states that tend to have alot of Carribbean clinical sites....NY, MI, IL, etc...

IMO there are places that are much more realistic to get cores at that AUA should be working on. Increasing Chicago and Michigan. Getting cores in Atlanta, Ohio, and Florida.

Practicing in Texas

I was told in order to practice in Texas all core rotations should be greenbook listed and electives does not have to be. Does anyone have info on this topic?

peds and psych rotations

So if we want a greenbook rotation in pediatrics and psychiatry, we only have one or two choices. It must be very hard to get in. Do we have to wait for long period of time for those rotations? Can we find our own core rotations that are greenbook?
P.s. I think St. Joseph -Oakland is greenbook for IM, which is not listed.

Yes. Also, Nevada and Pennsylvania have the same rule. It was previously thought that Nevada would not allow AUA students to practice because they "followed the California list," but an inquiry by two AUA students revealed that they simply demand that graduates of non-Cali approved schools personally appear before the board and they require all Green cores and electives.

You can't do cores in hospitals not affiliated with AUA. Wait list isn't too bad for Psych, but for Peds it is. Most people prefer the VA hospital for psych because apparently they let you live in it or something. I did my Psych rotation at St. John's Episcopal Hospital. It wasn't too bad.

I'm scheduled to start Peds at Wyckoff in nine days, but due to the hospital's policy of "bumping students," I won't be sure that I have a spot there till I show up - and I applied for this spot in July (7 months ago).

Because we don't have a contract with the surgery department. I've been told that the IM core there is as good as the one at Harbor.

Wyckoff hospital isn't listed on the acgme website for OBGYN, plus i found a website that lists the intern residency programs at wyckoff as being acgme, aoa or cpme and obgyn is listed as being accredited by the AOA; family medicine, pediatrics and internal medicine are the only three core that are accredited by the acgme

here's the website:Residency Programs

hope this helps

Ok, sree, so what happens if you get bumped off? Would you be forced to do a bluebook rotation in peds due to no other options? I was talking to a freind of mine yesterday and he mentioned that Ross had bought out many spots for wycoff peds and that students like us are going to even have a harder time getting that greenbook ped at wycoff. So worst case, lets say we lose peds at wycoff due to Ross, then what? I NEED to do all green rotation, ESPECIALLY cores! I really want as many options as possible when it comes to getting lisenced. This kind sucks eh?

You only get bumped as an AUA student if you don't have your immunization titer levels in your hand as you walk into Wyckoff. You also need updated physical exam (within the last year). So, have these. In fact, come to Wyckoff the week before you are scheduled and take care of medical approval ahead of time.

Would you be forced to do a bluebook rotation in peds due to no other options?

No reason to do a blue rotation. Just bring titers to Wyckoff and you will be fine.

I was talking to a freind of mine yesterday and he mentioned that Ross had bought out many spots for wycoff peds and that students like us are going to even have a harder time getting that greenbook ped at wycoff.

Ross bought 60 more spots in Wyckoff, unfortunately for us. That won't make much of a difference for my class, but if AUA doesn't acquire more pediatrics spots, your class will have to go to either San Juan or do non-Green rotations.

So worst case, lets say we lose peds at wycoff due to Ross, then what? I NEED to do all green rotation, ESPECIALLY cores! I really want as many options as possible when it comes to getting lisenced. This kind sucks eh?

You can always go to Puerto Rico. AUA has a fully accredited pediatrics rotation there. It's just six weeks...you can use Craig's list to find some temporary housing and just deal with it somehow and leave.
