New Clinical site
It's been around 6 months since we've had a new clinical site, but today they added:
Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, MD ACGME accredited for IM, FM and OB/Gyn Since Harbor is accredited for IM and ********** already, I guess this means students can get Family Medicine done in Baltimore now. Update: Ob/Gyn at Harbor hospital is for St. Matthews students only.

The addition of new clinical sites has been slow lately. AUA needs to get more sites to prevent back-ups. According to the website there were 144 people that were promoted from basic sciences ending December to 5th semester.

YES!!! Thank god for more clin sites in the DC/Baltimore area!! Just got accepted for Fall 08, so the more sites in those hospitals the better!

NY is saturated, there are no spots to gain unless you start a bidding war for clinical sites. Keep the sites that you have and it is better to make efforts towards getting another city beside NYC where you can get a majority of cores done Green. This makes Baltimore now 4 of 6 cores, NYC 6 of 6, Chicago 3 of 6, and the Pontiac/Grand Blanc area 4 of 6. Trying to expand in Chicago is probably more feasible than NYC. Acquiring peds sites should be a top priority too, as that is the bottle neck for most schools.

Anyone know what's happening with Atlanta? I know that a whole bunch of my classmates are there, but no one posts from there.

Last word to me was that they will no longer be sending anyone to Atlanta...Because it was not up to AUA's standards. Whatever that means. I was dying to move to Atlanta. I personally noticed that the bottleneck is occuring because of the huge number of transfers that are already set to take the step at the end of 5th semester. I know we had a bunch in Miami. Not to mention the fact that just about everyone passes 4th semester in Antigua--unless you are below 40% you probably will pass.
Now the advisors are telling me that I may have to wait till April or May if I want to go to New York. I am engaged and my fiancee and I need a more permanant location so she can work but they don't seem to be very accomodating. |
