Peds at Wyckoff
Peds at Wyckoff is broken down into 2 groups: those that stay at Wyckoff for all 6 weeks, and those that have 3 at Wyckoff and 3 at St. Johns Queens (not Episcopal). Unfortunately you don't get to pick, but if you're placed in the split group, the 3 weeks at Wyckoff are broken down into: 1) FLOORS (9-4, with 1-2 24hr (weekday) or 12hr (weekend) call depending on how many people in the group), 2) ER (4 12hr shifts), 3) NURSERY (8:30-5, no calls), 4) CLINIC (hrs depend on Dr.)
So you will get 3 out of the 4 for the 3 weeks at Wyckoff. If you're there for 6 weeks then it's the same, I think you have 2 weeks of clinic and I think 2 weeks of floor. Now for those who end up at St. John's for 3 weeks, the hours are usually 8-4, BUT the hours can vary depending if you're on floors, nursery, or clinic, mandatory lecture at 10am daily. Everyone has to take 1 24hr call, but depending on the Dr., you can be out of there very early. One last thing, the hours I stated is what's "supposed" to be said, if you catch my drift. Let's just say I'd rather have 3 at Wyckoff and 3 at St. Johns. Hope this helps! -watch HITMAN, great movie |
