Bumping this thread to make sure people know that Ob/Gyn here is no longer greenbook, as of July 2008, so if you're doing a clerkship here and are concerned about Green rotations, make sure it ends before July 2008.
The reason this program was Green (on paper) was because it was affiliated with NOMC's program. That (NOMC's) program shut down last year but remained Greenbook on paper, and St. Joe's was supposed to get its Ob/Gyn program dually accredited this year. However, I've been told that their bid was not successful. So, St. Joe's Ob/Gyn program will simply be AOA accredited after July 2008.

OBGYN St. Joseph
Hi I was hoping you would clarify the OBGYN of St. Joseph not being greenbook anymore.
The ACGME lists this : *********************** Sponsoring Institution: St Joseph Mercy Hospital Specialty: Obstetrics and Gynecology St Joseph Mercy Hospital Program [2202531131] St Joseph Mercy Hospital 5333 McAuley Drive RHB-2108 Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197 Original Accreditation Date: December 7, 1949 Accreditation Status: Continued Accreditation Accreditation Effective Date: May 17, 2007 Accredited Program Length: 4 years Program Format: Standard Last Site Visit Date: November 28, 2006 Cycle Length: 3 years Approximate Date of Next Site Visit: May 1, 2010 **************************************** doesn't the ACGME accreditation mean their rotation is greenbook then? I just passed step 1 and am being sent to St. Joseph for 4 rotations straight and would like to have as many options in where to practice as possible. |

Yeah, I've been assigned:
surgery, OBGYN, family Ped,,, in that order. @ Pontiac, But I'm guessing I can talk to the clinical coordinator, and just do surgery, and get reassigned for the rest, but I'll have to take delays and wait for other rotations. I'll call her Monday. -Thanks for letting me know about this. |

Ob/Gyn at St. Joe's isn't the end of the world because a lot of states accept osteopathic rotations, but Pediatrics there is not Greenbook. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
My rule of thumb when I was in Michigan was - if St. Georges students are staying away from a rotation, there's probably something weird going on with that rotation. St. Georges students only rotate (for their cores) through the IM and Surgery departments of that hospital - and that is not by accident.
