USMLE I exam

What are the requirements of AUA for letting a student take the USMLE Step I exam? Is it true that even though an applicant successfully completed the Basic Sciences component, but they have a lower than a "C" in Pre-Med classes, AUA will not allow them to take the USMLE I, unless they repeat the Pre Med Courses? Thanks

I've never heard of this rule. Is it new?

here is the response to ur question by an admissions director at AUA:

What they are referring to is acceptance into Basic Sciences: repeating courses in which you received below a C in one of the Premedical Requirements for admission into Basic Sciences. This has nothing at all to do with being able to sit for Step 1.

basically they are saying you need to repeat pre-med courses that you received below a C in before you can be considered being accepted into basic sciences...they would not make you repeat these courses if you have already been accepted into basic sciences!

Usmle

Also, you will need to get an 58 or higher on the comprehensive shelf to be certified to take STEP 1. You will have three chances one as you are leaving the island and one at the end of the 5th semester and then the other some time after 5th semester but I can't remember the exact time frame.
