The evaluation covers 5 areas graded from substandard (F) to outstanding (A). The 5 areas are:

(A)Medical knowledge: demonstrates appropriate knowledge of basic sciences and applies that knowledge effectively to patient care.
(B)Assessed skills: degree of knowledge base; committed to life-long learning; has understanding of complex problems.
3.)
(A)Practice-Based Learning and Improvement: understanding evidence based medicine and applies sound principles of practice within the context of patient care.
(B)Assessed skills: establishes relationships with patients/families; educates and council's patients/families; maintains comprehensive, timely, legible medical records.
4.)
(A)Interpersonal and Communication skills: demonstrates skills (i.e., listening and responding) that results in effective information exchange between patients/families and the healthcare team.
(B)Assessed skills: establishes relationships with patients/families; educates and councils; maintains comprehensive, timely, legible medical records.
5.)
(A)Professionalism: demonstrates commitment to professional development and ethical principles, and sensitivity to patient/family and peer diversity.
