KMC - Twinning Program
Hi
I had a few questions regarding the KMC Twinning program. I am studying in 2 year Health Studies at University of Waterloo, Canada and had some questions regarding the KMC Twining Program. I wanted to know if I can apply to that program and whether my 2 years of studies will be credited or not. Do I enter the Pre med program or the Basic Science program? Also how many years will it take to graduate and with which degree will I be graduating with. Is it MBBS or MD? As well, is the program well recognized? Can I practice with the degree in Canada? Or is it better to study in Canada itself? Thank you Heli |

hope this helps!!!
I am a current student in the twinning program, but I'm based in Manipal, not Antigua. Please note, there is a HUGE difference between KMC and KMC International Center (KMCIC). KMCIC is the school that is affiliated w/ AUA, and you acquire an MD degree by doing two years of pre-med (which you may opt out of if you have completed 90 units of pre-med requirements), 2 years of basic sciences, and then 2.5 years of clinical rotations here in the U.S. You also have the option of transferring to Antigua after completing the pre-med requirements in Manipal. Also, KMCIC is NOT MCI accredited (medical council of india), and is also not accredited in all 50 states (california for sure, i believe texas and north dakota are the other two that do not recognize KMCIC but i'm not certain on that). A student in KMC on the other hand, is MCI accredited, and is recognized in most states, including Cali. MCI accreditation isn't that big of a deal for us Americans however, since the whole point of us joining the twinning program is to be able to practice here in the United States/Canada. Also, KMC provides students w/ an MBBS degrees, as opposed to an MD. Anyway, hope this helps |

you are actually the first i've come across that's a US Citizen in India. If you're trying to stay here in India, I suggest you apply to KMC. If you're wanting to go back to the states, then go for KMC IC. As far as application/admittance? I believe you need a 3.0, but I can double check that for you.

The Application form can be found here: KMCIC. Let me know if you have other questions.
