They don't take gpa's over here...its more like percentage...and I want to go back to the U.S to practice...I've got both the applications though...

what is the difference between KMC and KMCIC??

Hello I just wanted to know if it is the same set of loans as for AUA in antigua. Is there any other loan companies I can apply through that wont require a co-signer for kasturba especially because its so established? Thx

KMC is MCI accredited (medical council of india), whereas KMCIC is accredited in the US.

Hi my name is Shikha..I am currently in my first year of undergrad in Canada and am planning to do my M.B.B.S in India. One thing that seems to be bothering me is the difference between KMC and KMCIC. Which would be a better place to go for me? I am planning to come back to the states and settle down there, yet I am not to sure which one would be better for me to go into..KMC? or KMCIC? Many in the past have told me that KMC would be much better, then again a lot of people have suggested that I apply to KMCIC if I wish to come back to the states. If anyone has any suggestions and can help me out, plz do..thanks loads.

I think the differences of KMC and KMCIC are more a matter of priorities and personal motivation.

Priorities:

Do you want to complete Indian licensing requirements in Medical School and eventually practice in India? If so KMC would be a great option for you. Do you want to complete US licensing requirements in Medical School and eventually practice in the US? KMCIC would meet you needs better than KMC.

Personal Motivation:

From what KMCIC students have told me, I don't think any student right out of high school who is still not sure she wants to be a doctor should go to KMCIC. Why? KMCIC is in the middle of rural India 10,000 miles from the US or Canada. If there is a possibility that you will be distracted away from your medical studies, Manipal is not where you should be. KMC's curriculum I imagine gives a little less time for their students to be distracted. Don't know for sure. But this is my impression.

My suggestion is to test your motivation to be a doctor: volunteer in the ER, work for a while in the front office, shadow a doctor on rounds. If everything in you is still pointing you toward medicine it's only a matter of applying yourself to find the right path.

KMC (the MBBS program) and KMCIC (MD program) are entirely different except for being on the same campus and under the umbrella of Manipal University: different application process, different administration, different professors, different degree.

KMCIC is a 6-year MD program: 4 years in Manipal completing the Premed and Basic Science components of Medical School then 2 years in the US completing USMLE Steps 1 & 2 and Clinical Rotations in our affiliated hospitals.
