Which philippines med school is worth considering? Help needed.

    Advertisements

I am High School student from Pakistan and am planning to study MD in Philippines. I need guidance and advice to select a med school. My main concerns are that I will have no bachelors degree at the time of applying and that my budget for tuition fee is 5000-7000$ per year . I would like some opinions on Bicol Christian College of Medicine and University of Perpetual Help System Dalta College of Medicine, Las Pinas. Help me out please.

My brother graduated from Perpetual but he took up and finished Psychology. I didn't hear any negative info from him about his school so I guess it's a good one. I have a friend who is currently taking up med at the UERM. The tuition is not so expensive compare to other universities.

So University of East is a good option? Can you please provide me with email address or contact number of UERM?
    Any other recommendations ?

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila is currently number 1 among medical schools in Philippines, located in Intramuros Manila. Tuition fee is not as high as other schools since it is considered as public school.

Dont go to the philippines if you have the chance to study somewhere in europe! Foreigners are not allowed anyway to take the national board, might be complicated to take the local courses and take the board in your home country! Its a warning, even people(locals) say everything is good there, its not, its total desaster!

marekkattarek, you need to stop bashing the Philippines. Do you even know what you are talking about. The Philippines has a very good track record of producing excellent medical graduates be they doctors, nurses, PT's etc. especially if you decide to practice in the USA. You, Sir, are also totally misinformed about the books. They use current editions of all medical books.

The decision to take step 1 and 2 are strictly up to you if your are ready. But they can all be taken in the Philippines if you wish. Many wait till they graduate and take a review class before taking the USMLE whether in the US or RP. As far as schools, you have UERM, UP, UST, FEU, DLHSI, CIT, and many, many others. I know a physician husband and wife who graduated from MCU who are doing extremely well. The wife is Chief of Pathology and husband is in private practice. Even Filipino doctors who can well afford to send their kids to a US medical school willingly send their kids to the Philippines to attend med school!!

Yes, i know what im talking about. I studied there medicine,
I was fooled by the philippinos. Didnt get any good education neither the chance to take the board exam!
Dont study in this country, its a warning! "google" about the issues there, also about the permission to take the board exam as a foreigner in this country. Its just impossible, there are many similiar cases as im describing!

Since you are a student without a ** degree, University of Perpetual Help has a 5 year MD degree program in which you spend one year getting your **/BA degree whichever they have and then you do the 4 years over there. Their dorms (hostel) are on top of their classrooms and gated security well screened. The overall program is very good and it depends on the effort you put into it. The more effort you put into it and do what you're supposed to do, you will be fine!
