Smile China medical schools help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey All,
I'm completely confused to which University in China I should go to inorder to Study mbbs.
I'm thinking of going to Tongji University, But I'm not really sure if it's accredited by the WHO (list hasn't been updated since 2007) or EICS, I'm from Australia.
If anyone could give me a range of universities that are GOOD that would be awesome, as I'm probably going to visit the universities next month for a furthur insight into how they REALLY are. And is china medical university really that hard to get into
    cheers

Tonji is good. Tonji med school was founded a century ago, by German doctors in China. Ranked in Top 10 or at least top 15. For an Australian, it should be easy, no entrance test.

Do you know mandarin? if yes or can learn language fast, take the 5 year Chinese MBBS. The English MBBS programs are not approved by all governments.

Hi there. Try Fudan, Zhejiang, Huazhong, Wuhan, Sichuan and Zhongnan. They're the best ones. I'm sure you will have no problem getting in.

Thanks for the reply Sacred Dream
I'm after a university that's not really hard to get into,
But they instruct the course in proper english. I can't speak chinese.
I don't mind if it's in the city or not.
Not that I can't afford it but I don't prefer Fudan, I heard that there are interviews and an entry test you have to pass to get into there.
    thanks

Hi Sacred Dream. I've noticed you are currently studying at Zhejiang - how are you finding it? I have a couple of questions I was wondering you could answer:

Do you have access to many medical journals in English?
How are you assessed - do you have MCQs and practical exams (O.S.C.Es) or are assessed using essay-based exams?
    What is the accommodation like?

    Kind regards,
    MCwiseguy.

I'm not sure about the system in Australia but I think it's very similar to over here in the UK. So I think you may have to take an additional test (something like the P.L.A.B) to show your competency and knowledge. However, I suggest you try studying in Australia first if you havn't already done so, especially if you have no interest in Chinese culture or learning Chinese and you want to go back to work in Australia.

Its pretty similar to the US system, we have to do a test when we come back but first the degree has to certified by the EICS in the US, qhich has to be recognisedby the WHO. Then we can sit for the Australian Medical Council Test. I am currently taking Mandarin Classes and am learning about chinas culture in order to prepare myself so that won't be a problem. I'm just after a decent university, with a good environment and a range of international students.
