Study MEDICINE @ SLU, Baguio city, Philippines - VERY AFFORDABLE TUITION COST!!!!

    Hi

Is anyone interested at studying medicine (MD) at Saint Louis University,Baguio City. Philippines?

If you wish to apply to SLU to do a 4 year MD and 16 month Bsc in Biology(premed), let me know, I can direct you to the the University admissions personel for the International admissions to the premed and medicine program now being offered.

SLU coducts all classes in English, and the Bsc and MD is completed in 5.5 years for those students who have 12 year schooling(10 plus 2 or 12th grade) qualifications.

Tuition Fees are in the region of 1.2 million pesos for the complete 5.5 years ($23 000 - $25 000).

The cheapest schools for foreigners in the Philippines are CIM, U of West Visayas, and MSU-Iligan. These are all excellent schools, but they employ a PBL method - so you get very little lectures, and mostly study by yourself. If you don't have a med tech degree already, you'll have trouble passing in that setting.

The cheapest traditional schools in the Philippines that I can think of are SWU and Silliman U - both do not require an upfront "donation", just charge a slightly higher yearly tuition for foreigners. Both schools are excellent, but the latter is not yet accepted by California because its medicine degree has been taught for less than 7 years.

FYI SLU has a $6000 foreign student donation fee, making it one of the pricier options in the Philippines (but not as pricey as UST with its $10K donation).

    Hi 8dr and other members,

Im a Pinay, RN, USRN, 26 years old. I want to go back to school to my first love, which is medicine, how do I get to SLU Baguio School of Medicine? Just wanted to know what is the edge of being an RN before taking up Medicine. I would be delighted to hear a response from you.

    Hi 8dr,

Im a PinaRN, USRN too, 26 years old. Recently I have been offered by my Aunt to pursue my first love which is Medicine. Baguio is the nearest School of Medicine to my area. I made some inquiry to SLU already, and found out that NMAT is the first step, so Im getting ready for it this December. How could I get an overview of the curriculum of the 5.5 years MD program, because Im married, and plan to somehow work while studying. Its quite tough, but I really want to grab this opportunity to finish medicine.

Can you give me tips in preparing for the NMAT. I would really appreciate if you would reply to this PM or email me at aprilezra84@yahoo.c

The start of the next BSc in Bio class will begin in 2011 Feb. For inquiries to joining the BSc in Bio first prior to medicine, please email studymedicine2010@gmail.com and a reply will be sent to you.
PLEASE email enquiries to this address as following up on posts on this thread is difficult to be done regularly by the admin.

FOR ALL THOSE ATTEMPTING TO GET DIRECTLY INTO THE 4 YEAR MD, AND ALREADY HAVE A VALID BACHELORS DEGREE, MAY CONTACT THE SLU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE DIRECTLY FOR MEDICINE REQUIREMENTS.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOREIGN DONATION FEE AT SLU IS $5000
AND NOT $6000 AS MENTIONED BY ANOTHER POSTER.
