Question Do non-Asian Americans ever go to Med School in the Philippines?

I'm being sincere with this question. I don't mean to sound facetious.

I really want to study in the Philippines due to the fact that I can afford to study there and graduate debt free. I'm mostly hearing that only FIL-AMS go there. Do any non-Asian Americans go to med school in the Philippines? Any white people? Are students there required to know Tagalog?

I appreciate your help!

There are very few Caucasians studying there. On top of my head based on report of recent students, There's 1 or 2 in Cebu (Middle islands), there is one in UERM. Fatima students claim they have a program specifically for foreigners so you don't have to learn Tagalog. That might be your best bet.

Thumbs up

Thanks, Trauma.

Thanks. I visited Fatima's website. I'm not getting responses to emails, so I may have to just chance flying out there to see what's going on. Their programs seems ok. Expensive, but still cheaper than the Carribean.

I am a current student in the special class at Fatima, there are 2 white students from the US in my class, a couple upper classmen are white as well. Also a handful of students from Africa, India, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea etc. The majority in Special class are Fil-Ams and Taiwanese students, but it depends on the year.

Im the "caucasian" (russian american) from Cebu, MHAM. We have other non filipino americans in my school - a lot actually. In my batch (2nd year) we have about 8 thais, 2 vietnamese - both from north america, one mixed nationality american, and one japanese. Other years have also nepalese and chinese. Next year we have incoming premedical students from india, pakistan, a somalian american, and many other locations. So one positive thing I can say about our program at Southwestern University - Matias H. Aznar Memorial is that its international, without being separated from the filipinos. Yes, learning Cebuano would help when you come here, but 100% of classes are in english.
