which asian medical schools cater to the european system?
first time caller, long time listener...
can someone please tell me, what asian medical schools, are designed for the european system of study, i.e. the 6 year medical school with no pre B.Sc. degree, not the american thing, where you need a B.Sc. to enter then do 4 years of med school. i was really psyched about the philipines, then i found out it was the USA system, B.Sc. then 4 years, which won't work for me at the time. i've been doing some research, but some of these asian school websites, don't have that elaborate information and reading about qualifications is even more vague. i'm mostly interested in south east asia. spank u |

In Southeast Asia, Malaysia might be following the MBBS system and Singapore might be but I'm not sure. There are also MBBS programs in some Philippine schools catering to Indian students. It's being promoted by a company (Indian) called HCMI but I still have doubts about it's acceptability in other parts of the world.

India
OK... I'm not a medical student yet, but I can tell you about the system here in India coz I live here right now. Medical colleges here which operate under indian universities all follow the same system - 5 and 1/2 years MBBS right after 12th. Out of this, 4 and 1/2 yrs forms the actual course and 1 year is compulsory rotating internship. From what I have heard, the medical colleges under the Manipal University have foreigners studying there. I haven't really heard of foreigners opting for other medical colleges...... but there are many people who lived outside India for most of their lives but are of Indian origin studying in other medical schools. Hope this helps.
