Lungdoc, is there a lot of weeding-out of 1st yr. med students in UERM? I've heard that this is one of the best schools, and there's a lot of competitive students in this university? This is my impression based on what I've read in some threads.

Nowadays, regardless of where your med school is in the Phil weeding-out would probably not be of your concern because of the decline of students enrolling in medicine.
Except maybe in UST and UP, the former because of of its numerous enrollees basically it would be more difficult in being accepted and latter for being a high rank public/government university.

Based on what I heard from students and professors, there's less weeding out due to fewer students. However it does not mean that nobody quits or fails. FEU is the more notorious one in the past in weeding and UERM was second as they have big classes in the past (sometimes 300-400 freshmen). Nowadays they will be happy to get 200 incoming students.
UST still accepts a lot of students (more than 500) so it's inevitable that a lot will fail or quit as they don't make it easy for anybody. But at least more than 300 will be left by the 4th year.
UP do not weed much as they get very few students (120) and it's very difficult to get admitted in the first place.

What are some of things you would like to see changed? Didn't you go to CIM before and say you didnt like it there because lack of faulty as you didnt have enough time to study histology slides in the lab, in addition to PBL style learning?

Use Search Feature

Use the Search feature of the Forum!!

Many of the answers of the questions being asked in this thread such as where to go to school in the Philippines and about the Philippines in general have already been extensively discussed and answered in this forum.

To save time and avoid repetition, I suggest to those asking questions to first use the SEARCH feature of the forum. If after doing the search you still cannot find your answers, then post the question.

Also, as has been repeatedly pointed out, it is best to contact the schools directly (email or phone) on questions specific to policies, costs, curriculum, etc. rather than relying on others for answers. Things change all the time and you do not want to get mislead.
