Thread: MBBS @ manipal vs AUA-KMC programs

to practice in canada or the US which program do u think is better?

the reason i ask is cuz im thinking that attending AUA be an advantage for getting back into the states but the problem is that AUA is not recognized in 4 states like new york or cali (even tho u can do clinicals in new york).. and i know that getting back to canada is hard no matter where u go...

so advice on aua-kmc vs mbbs would help thanks

First of all, AUA does have recognition in NY as of last month. Cali, Florida and Texas are not certified just yet but in time they will be.. Anyways, if you are coming straight out of high school, there are tons of kids who are doing the AUA-KMC Pre-med program and then get into the basic science program and then do their clinicals in the US upon passing their boards. I suggest you take the same route that all these other kids are taking. Read up on this on this forum and talk to some of them who are just out of high school and are about the do the Pre-med program. Getting back to Canada would be hard either way and I'm not even sure what the procedures are for that because I'm from US. Anyways, I vote for the AUA-KMC program only because I look it this way. You will take your boards one by one thru the twinning program but if you take the five and half year route, you'll be taking your boards, step 1,2,3 all at once and then getting a residency spot will be just as hard either way..but I know a lot of my family friends have wasted 2 years studying for all three boards. Anyways, I hope that helps.
