MANIPAL = Medical Colleges at Manipal and Mangalore campuses.

ie. Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.


Remember the recent story about de recognition of KMC? That KMC Manipal students were not eligible for USMLE?

Guess what? The management has proved once again their efficiency. They have shown how committed their team is to get a speedy resolution, how they will go to any level to help students. Students are now eligible for USMLE examinations 8)

The problem came to lime light on 1st week of February when few students declared openly, contacted management. The guys at Manipal almost immediately swund into action, they were in touch with the highest officials in the country, and resolved the matter in days. Simultaneously responding to student queries, phone calls, emails, reassuring them.

I beleive they were polite to phone calls, even when each staff was getting more than 200 phone calls a day..!! from all over the world. Some phone calls even abusive :P Understanding the anxiety of the parents, they took the time and explained the situtation to every student! Fatherly approach

No wonder KMCs have the highest representation of students of Indian origin in US residency programs. A major chunk of Indian American Doctors in US are KMC alumnis..!! The college is also very swift in responding to enquiries from international bodies like ECFMG, no bueracracy, no redtape, no bribe, no politics. Just pure buissness.


I state with pride again, If you want to go to medical school in India, go to Manipal

I believe the decision by ECFMG to invalidate KMC grads for certification is the correct one. Here is why:

KMC has started and closed numerous programs since the 1994 Apex Court ruling establishing limits on NRIs enrolled at KMC.

They do this brazenly, carelessly, and without regard for the students whose lives they severely damage/destroy.

The administration is thoroughly corrupt, particularly Christo, and bribery is rampant as is cronyism, nepotism and other forms of special favor based on one's family and connections rather than academic performance.

Many of the professors are more interested in personal judgementalism of students and treating them like slaves rather than imparting a sound medical education.

There are many students there who are not remotely qualified to practice as physicians but who are there solely through personal wealth.

I could go on and on, but i do not wish to be cited, censored, or banned for simply speaking the truth. I have not made any personal insults, this is the history of the school and it is the truth and it's why the school is experiencing the present crisis.

I sincerely hope and pray for the well-being of future students who seek a medical education in India, that this corrupt and despicable institution is forced to shut down.

TMA Pai was indeed a great man, a leader and a visionary, but his foolish and incompetent son and his corrupt cronies have taken what was once a fine school decades ago and turned it into a cesspool of corruption.

Rao, you may have had a different experience, however please respect that others experience may not be the same as yours and I do believe many NRIs will attest to the atrocities I've mentioned.

Do you know the different ways you can get into Manipal institutes.

There are 600 medical students admitted by Mahe in their main campuses at Manipal and Mangalore. 300 each.Out of this only 150 is what you call "MONEY" admissions. The rest are based on MERIT (if u know what it means). UGET enterance and KCET.

GG Christo was the Vice President of KMC at least up until 1998, I can't say until what point after that. An incredibly corrupt, dishonest individual bordering on evil. If KMC has disposed of this particular piece of trash, then very well, but it won't be enough to save it.....too many problems which are now coming to light.

And unlike past years, their self-serving, law-circumventing arrangement with AUA is being dissected and revealed at inception, not years later, which is a good thing for all prospective students.

VMD is an incredible, irreplaceable resource but i believe it gets abused by schools and their students for the dissemination of self-serving propanganda designed to lure in desparate students and their hard-earned money.

But as a student of SMU, I can honestly say the following: no way, no how would we have learned as quickly as we did and so thoroughly of the following without VMD: the Key Bank pullout, and the California decision on SMU. And that's why I try to do my part to help other students, particularly those considering KMC or any of the other scam programs at Manipal.

Who is GG Cristo?? Hope you are not mixed up with some other college. The institute in discussion is www.manipal.edu
