Well, they've been living an awfully quiet existence, since they've apparently been around for some five years by now... ;-)

their website is dead. they were apparently part of the United Empire from India in the past but I can find NO students that are in residencies in the US. One would suspect something since the school has been around for a while per some websites but who knows. Seychelles is pretty isolated.

Interesting. Hungary's leading business magazine did a story on the school as one of the founders is a Hungarian doctor.

Quote:
OFFSHORE ORVOSI EGYETEM
Egzotikus diploma
A földi paradicsomként emlegetett Seychelle-szigeteken nemcsak a turizmus, az oktatás is jó üzlet. A világ legkisebb fővárosában, Victoriában amerikai orvosi diplomát lehet szerezni. Az egyetem egyik alapítója "természetesen" magyar.
Rough translation of the above abstract

Offshore medical school
Exotic diploma
On the paradise Seychelles, it is not only tourism that is proving as a good business, but also education. In the world's smallest capital city, Victoria, one can get American medical diplomas. One of the the founders of the university is 'naturally' Hungarian.

According to the article, the place has 170 students and only a couple dozen have gotten as far as licensure. However, as the piece is littered with other factual inaccuracies (such as mentioning that it awards an American diploma) that IMO doesn't mean much.

I visited their website not too long ago. Maybe it has been about 2 months. I found all the information needed about the place except financials. Just said they're "affordable". The link is not responding now though, but perhaps someone will have better luck later. http://www.usaim.edu/

I am currently a student at usaim, i just started my first semester here. I am not in seychelles, but a branch of the school in the UAE. I came here b/c i talked to the president of the university n she told me that they have a batch of students doing rotations in the US, where she would not say. I decided to give it a chance. Most of the profs, here r good, but its real strict, as if u were back in hs. tho i havent been here long, i like that the classes here r real small. no more than 20 students per class. Im just hoping they live up to wat they say. I just want a psych residency in tx. hopefully ill get that.

Usaim

k.. Im studying in USAIM.. in Seychelles... yes, they have clinical rotations in US - in Atlanta. As for other countries, if the hospital is not already affiliated, you will have to get their approval - and of course, approval from the hospital itself.

There has only been an handful maybe 7 students who went to do rotations in america. The rotations in atlanta suck they basically dont teach you anything over there. And if u are not a US citizen you will not be able to do rotations here, most students do it on their visit visa but that is illegal and the president is held responsible for that. And i am sry the student b4 me givin advise in having rotations in atlanta then yes but there are no students there .
