Thanks for letting us know about this school.

But the comment I highlighted is incorrect (although I am not a USA lawyer). The students themselves would be held responsible and bear the consequences if caught.

Bottom Line: the students have the option to choose where the want to do their clinical rotations. Some choose the US because (like me, a US permanent resident) becasue they want to further their career here. Others choose India because they want to practice over there. And so forth...

Rotations are being done in Chicago currently. As well as in the UK, India, and Pakistan. Students from USAIM have appeared in the steps and have done well. I am too giving the steps soon.

This post should help...

Hey everyone... I am a current student of USAIM.. I am posting this thread primarily because this university has given me an excellent base to further expand my medical career. Its located in Seychelles, which is a beautiful island in the Indian Ocean. There is a direct flight via Emirates Airlines from Dubai and Air France/Air Seychelles from Paris to the island (Mahe) so thats makes travel from the US or anywhere easy. I have stayed in seychelles for almost two years and misss it so much. Paradise really.. Nice quiet atmosphere to study and great people. I love it. And i am planning to go back and visit after I have given the steps and have earned my degree.
About the USAIM now. If you plan to come there.. Be prepared to study, study, and study. The administration of USAIM takes an individuals desire to succeed seriously. And if you are there to fool around you will eventually be punished to put it short. I didnt like this at first but then realised that this only raises the standards of the university and helps us doctors in the end. When we give the boards we are already prepared better than other medical schools. My friends go to some carribean colleges and also to some medical colleges in the middle east. I feel that I have the upper hand whenever it comes down the knowledge of medicine.
There have been many people and I mean many that have been suspended or even expelled because they had come there to just fool around. And to make things worse these people have nothing better to do than put the blame on the university saying that they are a victim. This is not so as i am proof of that. Dont go there if you are one of them. As long as you are giving a good effort and the staff sees your serious then you will be fine.
The builiding of the univeristy is not that great. And i was dissapointed in the begining. But, the staff of highly qualified doctors made up for that as i soon realised. They are planing to open a proper campus in couple of years. I just want you to know that if you want to go there dont expect a really nice campus just yet.
I have written this review again because i believe that this is a good option for the serious lot. It has provided me with a good base. Seychelles is an amazing place...i love it. I am sorry if i cannot reply to any questions you guys may have as i am preparing for the steps right now. I will try my best though. Check out the USAIM website it should answer some of them. And again i have written this post according to what i think and to let u knw that there are some good options out there...
