You can usually find SOE at the gym checking out Jim:D
the closest gym is at maho. it's a small gym and unfortunately, it doesn't have all the equipment.

There are PLENTY of workout-a-holics (im not one of them) and believe me, they are more than satisfied with the gyms on the island. The nice one my fiancee used to go to all the time is at the Royal Islander Hotel across the bridge. They offer student discounts (about half as much as the price in Maho) and it has HUGE bay windows overlooking the entrance to the lagoon where all the boats come in. The few times I did manage to go, it was definitely cool to see all those nice boats going by.

I think I was the one last semester bitching a fit about the MANDATORY SGA fee that was supposed to going toward a gym and study carrels. Which, I havent been to the dorms lately, but heard they arent in either. So, you're welcome for my $35 that could've gone toward a few more icy beverages at Lady C's.
Oh, and Marci's is not air-conditioned, which may not seem like a problem til July hits and the average temp feels like its 200F. Royal Islander does. Just something else to consider.

At an SGA meeting a couple of weeks ago, the president said the room was currently being built and was soliciting people for the "exercise" committee to help select equipment and finalize details. I volunteered but I haven't heard anything. If I hear anything, I will mention it here.
In the meantime, you can relax and wait on the gazebos currently being built.

OMG  , everyone needs to relax...just jog 20-30 minutes 4 times a week and do some situps and pushups. You'll be fine. :-jumprope

The closest is in Maho. It's eer, walking distance from campus. About 20-30 minutes walk across the golf course, passed the wild dogs, speeding motorists on the only road, and microphage offering boom boom good time for 5 dollah sailor.

allegedly, the school has ordered workout equipment. when it arrives, and the gold paint dries, it's to temporarily be installed on the 5th floor until a separate gym stucture can be built.

Sounds like Charles Atlas - claimed that eating right - doing 300 situps, 300 pushups and 300 knee bends daily gave him his body. BTW - he died from a heart attack while out for a jog...at age 77. I attempted his training method and shortly there after got tennis elbow from the pushup and had to have a knee operation from the knee bends. My opinion - becareful with the exercise suggestions.

you can jog around campus...and the surrounding areas. Just be smart...do it when it's light out.
Gyms...check out the Royal Palms in Simpson bay. Nice gym...a bit pricey...but it's nice.

The closest gym is within walking distance, but there and back 4-5 times a week gets tiresome. You could also take the bus. Before I got a car, I used to do both of these all the time. You have time to do that first semester, but after that spending 2+hours getting to the gym and working out gets more difficult.

If you're a sprinter you could always go to Philipsburg at night and step outside of your car. Pretty good workout for those who like an adrenaline rush in addition to "feeling the burn".

Is Dr. S still doing Jazzercise, step, and toning classes? I really enjoyed her classes while I was there.

according to the "new" sga president, in his "elect me" speech, said that the gym equipment is ordered and will be placed in the 5th floor exercise room, where S teaches step and toning. so while we wait for the equipment to find its permanent home, those of us who enjoy a little exercise on campus will be destined to get fat?
