Someone told me that recommendation letters (2 of them) were required before 4th semester/BMSI students may leave campus and head to Miami. Is this true? What are some possible ways to acquire these letters if this is true?

Thanks!

dont know if they are required, but they are needed in the future to write your deans letter. get at leasta couple from profs who know you.

Jim,

Thanks for the response. I take it there was no requirement for rec letters when you left the island?

I am assuming the deans letter is required for a more competitive residency...but does this not require that the student was on the dean's list (2 semesters of A's)? THanks again.

the deans letter is a letter from the dean to the residency directors. everyone gets one. and they are reqwuired by ERAS. the school writes them from your recs. needless to say, a rec that says" he was always willing to help out and learn more , and visited my office to discuss topics" is a much better quote in your deans letter then" he was a member of my class, i think". this is where being in amsa comes in handy. or being a TA. but even the lowest person in class can get a decenet letter if they go to profs office hours and are interested and ask alot of questions. recs where not required when i was there, but it was amazing how many people in miami said"what? I should have gotten letters of rec on the rock?"
