Presently, I am having a lot of difficulty in my Physics class. I am working very hard at it but still I am not doing well. I really don't get the subject. I am thinking of withdrawing from the class next week and take it again next semester. Will this decrease my chances of getting accepted? This will be my 2nd "W" the first one was years ago in a diffrent class. Is a "C" grade better than a "W" grade. What should I do?

Thank you for your help!

I don't know the answer to your question; I just have an opinion on physcis - it's just plain brutal. I hated the word problems in calculus. Every problem is a word problem in physics. If general physics is this tough, how tough is calculus-based physics? Luckily, I have a pretty laid back physics prof. She bases the tests on the homework, and the tests are open book! It's not fair, but it evens out, I had an anal Ochem prof.

Anyway, at the university I graduated from, they let you take classes in the summer through the extension office, and you can drop the class right up until the final with no record on your transcript. If you're doing well, take the final; if not drop. Is that an option at your school?

Was Einstein a woman-hater or is my prof. just hating?

hey, i had 2 Ws on my transcript and i was accepted (3.6 GPA). they weren't required classes so i don't know what bearing they had when i interviewed, but i would doubt they are going to keep you from getting in.

I don't know what Ross wants, but my advisor told me to always take a W over a bad grade. W's don't really reflect badly on your transcripts.

Most reputable schools now use the designation WP (withdraw PASSing) or WF (withdraw FAILing). That way, anybody who reads your transcripts knew IF you basically "gave up" because you were performing badly.

Either way, if you get an interview, your interviewer will likely ask why you withdrew from your physics class.

If you get a C, you've passed the course. If you applying to offshore schools only, you should be fine with a C in one semester of Physicis as long as your other grades (especially science) are A's and B's. If you are applying to US schools as well, that won't impress tham at all.

But please keep this in mind, medical school will be more stenuous that undergrad physics. Make sure you are ready for a LOT of information (much of it difficult to grasp) in a short amount of time.

Best of luck!
