24. pt coplaince on difficulty of breathing for 2 days, afebrile, on
chest X ray 2 cm from the ribs no lung seen on left+what s that? I put
bulles rupture, also was pneumonia, pleuritis, ascitis

if i'm reading this right, it says that the lung appears collapsed on x-ray which could be a pneumothorax.

spontaneous pnemo:
- idiopahtic most common
- tall thin males
- rupture of subpleural bullae in apex of lung
- iatrogenic causes also like needle puncture of lung after subclavian vein stick
- marfan's syndrome
- portion of lung collapses: pleural cavity pressure is same as atmospheric pressure
sudden onset of pleuritic type of chest pain
- tympanic percussion note
absent breath sounds diaphragm elevated
trachea deviates to same side of collapse

note this is different than tension pneomo where increased intrapleural pressure shifts mediastinal structure to opposite side.
