how is the real usmle exam compared to shelf exams on each subjects and also pre-test questions. i find them extreamly hard.

the shelf exams r supposed to be actual exam questions which have been retired. most of them r from before they started using the computer format. they're also not as clinically correlated as the test today. so in some sense, they a bit more straight forward primary questions. like they used to ask "what enzyme is missing in this disease?". now they give u a vingette with symptoms, etc and expect u to figure out the dz in order to answer which enzyme is missing.

the best source of questions is qbank online. after that r some of the questions on this site, nms, bss, qbook. after that is everything else. good luck
