What's the best way to call home?

For current students online...what's the best way to call home? Would I need to purchase a microphone? How much is it to call back to California? Would I be able to bring a cell phone from the states? Thanks

If you can use your computer with the internet at home, you can use www.dialpad.com which will cost about $0.04 per minute or less if you choose a monthly plan. You will need a computer headset and preferably the ADSL internet service once you get here.

I would recommend that you not even call him, not even sign up for service with Cable and wireless. if you must, do so for only a semester or two...and your final semester the service should be gone. thats when you can use email or your cell phone to call home and tlel them to call back. or tell your folks at home to sign up for dialpad and call you on your cell fone.
