Where does the garbage go?

I've seen photos of the car dump, but where does all the trash go? Is there a dump? Is it taken off the island? Is it loaded into a rocket and fired into the sun?

Just very curious about this.

but the garbage is collected during the week by the Saba garbage truck, driven by men often drinking beer while working. LOL. The garbage cans are every so many feet and are public. No one puts their own garbage can at the road. You just take your bag to the nearest public can and put it in.

It is taken somewhere on the island and burned. No recycling here.

That's what I was looking for. I didn't think there would be a recycling program, but I wanted to know what the ultimate end of the cycle was.

They take it all down to the dump beneath St. John's and burn it. You can see (and smell) the smoke on occasion.

When I was a student there, some of my classmates got permission from the Lt Governor to push their junker car off the cliff in St Johns that overlooks the dump. That was cool.
The worst part about living in St Johns was trash burning day.
