Hi,
I had my interview a couple of weeks ago (for Aug 04 class) and it was pretty straight forward. It lasted 30 minutes and the questions were basic. They asked me, 1) to describe how my past academic experiences have prepared me for medicine, 2)If I had to describe the island of Saba to someone who knew nothing about it, what would I say (use the school website and www.sabatourism.com for info) and 3) what do I do in my spare time.
The rest of the interview consisted of them telling me about the school. There were 2 interviews and they were seemed very nice. Make sure you look over what you have written for the personal statement and the additional questions. I mentioned that I speak Italian and after I answered the phone one interviewer started speaking Italian!!! Relax and be yourself and everything will be fine.
Good luck with everything.

I had my interview last Thursday. I have also interviewed with St. Matthew's and Sint Eustatius. Of the three, Sint Eustatius' interview went the best for me. St. Matthew's was only a 15 minute interview, and one of the questions was, how would I personally reduce the cost of medical care? It struck me as an odd question. What, do they want me to say that I would take a pay cut, when I owe over a hundred thousand dollars? Hehe. I really didn't know what to say so I rambled on about the differences between US medical coverage vs Canadian and European. Anyway, your question was about Saba. Their interview lasted about 30 minutes and seemed positive to me. They quetioned me about what other schools that I had applied to, and how I would feel if I had to live on a tiny island where everyone know me. They also asked me which class I had enjoyed the most. They brought up the subject of one class that I had gotten a bad grade in, and wanted an explanation. They invited me to ask questions so after a few other questions, I asked what my chances would be of getting into Saba. They were vague and turned the question back around at me, asking me what I thought my chances were. I said I thought that my chances were pretty good, as my overalll GPA is 3.56 and my science GPA is 3.43, and I have several years experience as a medical technologist. I thought it was a bit unsettling that the interviewer did this, but we'll see. I didn't take the MCAT after all, but I didn't think it was required and I don't want to waste any more time, I just want to get into med school and get started. My decision to be a doctor came to me at the fragile old age of 29 you see. Three decades of life is looming ahead of me and I have this obsession with getting started before I turn 30. Unfortunately Saba told me that January 2004 is all filled up. May is after my birthday...!!! So then I turned to Sint Eustatius, where I had a very positive interview, but as they say, a friend in need is a friend indeed. Also, I want to practice medicine in NY and USE is not approved for NY!! ARGGHHHH.... Although I was and am leaning towards USE, this is a major drawback. I suppose that waiting until May will have to be it. Saba seems to be my only option with no MCAT, limited funds, and the need to practice medicine in NY.
