Hi

I am currently in the process of applying to Saba. I have a few questions.

1) How do I calculate the science GPA?

2) How long does the personal statement need to be?

3) What is the ratio of girls to guys at Saba? I went to a nearly all boys college, and that was an unpleasant experience.

4) Does anyone know if there is surfing on the island?

5) My overall GPA is 3.5 and my MCAT is 29R. Is that competitive? What else do they look at?

6) Is it too late to apply for May 2004?

1. Depends on how the University calculates G.P.A.'s. My school used the "quality points" system. Just recalculate your G.P.A. but only include your science courses.

2. Mine was about a page and a half.

3. Not sure but it seems pretty even.

4. Not sure, but it's supposed to be one of the premier spots in the world for diving.

5. More than adequate. Why aren't you applying to an American school?

6. It shouldn't be.

I applied to a number of schools in California and a couple in the mid west, but that was before I heard about Saba. Now I don't even want to go anywhere else.

Sure, it may raise eyebrows, but after all, where would you rather be - the Caribbeans, or Detroit =)

but if you can go to an American school that is where you need to go. If I could get into an American school that's definitley where I would be. You could go to the caribbean and learn how to become a great doctor but the disadvantages are well documented. As far as which is better Detroit or the caribbean keep in mind the caribbean is a nice place to visit but when you live there you will go without many of the amenities even Detroit would have to offer. Even Detroit surely has a nice area of town. somewhere.
