hey people. looking forward to starting in sept, and meeting you all. but i'd be lying if i said i wasn't nervous about the VERY high passing percentage of 75%. for all of us with undergrad gpas (i'm guessing) of 2.8-3.5, a sudden transition to a school with 75% as passing seems like a very big change. as for myself, i have a gpa of about 3.2, so that means my undergrad marks are around 75% - 80% (at my university), i know this changes slightly from university to university. but my question is this: for those of you who are currently in saba, how have you coped with the incredibly high pass mark of 75%? because for myself, i'm not even always over that mark for undergrad exams. i know you're always supposed to aim for 100%, but still. i dunno, i'm starting to ramble, but any thoughts or experiences on this would be much appreciated.

Well, would you like to have a physician with a pass rate of 40%?

nah, i realize where your response is coming from, but i just wanted some people's experiences adjusting to the new grading system at saba. thanks for the reminder though.

Don't worry about the 75% pass grade. If you study and keep up with the work load, you can almost guarantee a 90 on the exams. The cirriculum is different from undergrad, in that there is ALOT more of it but the material is actually not very complicated.

Study and you will do better than pass!

Best of Luck!

RON :-)

pass percentage really means very little. If the professor made the class very hard and you needed to get a 65% to pass, it may be difficult. Another professor might write easy questions and an 80% pass rate wouldn't be a problem. The only way this system causes difficulty is if the pass percentage is a 75% and the professor likes to keep the class average at a 70%.

Salutations "miasma":

You may not be used to a 75% being a pass but you'll adjust sure enough. Don't worry, the professors are fair (at least those that I have encountered so far) and if you put in the time and effort, hopefully you will pass the course. Worry less about the passing mark and just do your best. Sadly though, the reality is that some people do fail a course because they got a 73% or 74%. Try not to get yourself in such a situation though. Good luck. Ciao.

Adjusting to the 75% is farily easy. Undergraduate exams are a lot harder then medical schools exam in that it takes more then memorization to answer the questions on an Undergraduate Chemistry, Physics etc. exam. Undergraduate exams require more thinking and analythical processing. First 2 years of Med School is all about memorization. Ok, Biochemistry might be an exception in Med School, but all the other classes is memorize everything.

Good luck. Study hard.

Question: Did anyone ever try to score 1-2% below the passing marks? no seriously, anyone?
