I am a second year medical student in a medical school in London, UK and I am thinking of transferring to SABA University for my clinical years. I completed a BSc in Pre-Med/Biology in a US college and then moved to the UK to study medicine. I will be completing my 2 years of pre-clinical/basic sciences in June 2006. I would really appreciate it if anyone could answer one or more of the questions that I have listed below –Thanks a lot!!

1)How much patient/physical examination skills (eg. taking blood pressure etc.) and history taking skills do you learn in your pre-clinical years?

2)How much patient/physical examination skills and history taking skills does one need to have/know before starting clinical rotations in the US?

3) If I do all or some of my core rotations and electives in non-affiliated hospitals, will it be a problem when I am applying for residency positions in the US?

4) When do students normally take the USMLE step 1 exam if they are thinking of starting their clinical rotations in September?

5) Did any of you have any problems getting clinical rotations (core rotations) in the US?

6) Were there any huge gaps between core rotations?
