Anyone wants to share their experience at Whipps Cross hospital? Pros and cons?

The hospitals in the UK have the same standards, you can not say one is better than another as all hospitals are under the NHS.

Defiently more hands on, as doctors in the UK do not have to worry about being sued, and NHS is there to protect them

One year in one of the worlds best cities, London! definetly an opurtunity not to be missed.

London is the most expensive city in the world, but Whipps Cross isnt in a mega-rich area. The hospital itself is absolutely huge and has a sizeable research faculty. It's got a great reputation in London

I am currently doing my core rotations at Whipps Cross. I have done family practice and Internal Medicine, and have just started surgery. Internal Medicine was really good. It is broken up into 3 week intervals within the hospital in the following four fields: cardiology, respiratory, Emergency care, and Endocrinology. So basically every 3 weeks in internal med, you have a different preceptor and are moved to a different ward. The same is done with surgery here. You are in general surgery for four weeks, then rotate with Urology, Ortho, ENT, Vascular, and GI.
London can be quite expensive, but mainly because of food. Rent here in this area is not that bad. The hospital dorms were quite horrible. I lived there for 2 weeks and moved into a house with other SMU students.
The hospital is a university teaching hospital, so there are many other students, and all the doctors help teach you alot. Its alot of hands on work, doctors arent afraid of gettin sued here, so they will let you try most procedures. Hope this all helps. Let me know if you have any questions

TX Boy - Would you say that it is more expensive than Grand Cayman? If so, how much more expensive?

TX boy, I'm interested in going to the UK too, in fact i need to decide by tuesday.

the only thing that i'm hesistant about is coming back here to do residency and getting rejected because i did my cores in the UK.

have you any friends or colleagues that have done the same, that have gotten into US residencies?
