If someone goes to an unapproved NY school, I am aware that they are only allowed to do 12 weeks of clinical rotations and are not allowed to do their residency in the state of NY, to be eligible for NY licensure.
What I am confused about is, if that person elects to do his residency, not caring to get licensed in NY later on, is that allowed?
Secondly, just say they want to do a fellowship after their residency, will they be allowed to do it if there school is still not approved? I guess what I'm asking here is, does one have to get licensed to do a fellowship? Or is a fellowship looked upon more like a residency in these terms?
Thank you in advance for your reply. And have a safe new year! :)

I think you should ask the board directly rather than taking other students advice on this matter since your question is more in depth than most people know about.....
