Reason I ask is since St Matthews has been purchased by a similar group and i would like to know what students can expect and whether this is a good or bad sign for the school.

SillyDoc, the comparison you are making is not valid. Ross University is entirely owned by DeVry Inc. a publically traded higher learning educational corporation which also operates one of the largest accredited universities (undergraduate and graduate) in the Unites States.
The investment firm which has invested in St. Matthews could be better compared with Leeds Equity which bought Ross from Dr. Ross orginally and later sold to DeVry. However, even that isn't a good comparison because Equinox did not purchase the entire university but merely has invested IN the University ("significant investment").
While DeVry has been good for Ross in many ways, its hard to tell what real impact, if any, a new investor in St. Matthews will have.
