Why would you choose SABA over other schools???

I having a hard time to decide on which school to choose from??? Can people just tell me why would they choose or have they chosen SABA over other schools??

For those who are currently students, Did you find the school prepare for all labs and lectures??

Have you found the Island confortable?? What do you like most about the Island? What do you like the least about the Island?

Do you feel(if you've taken the USMLE's) that SABA prepares you for the USMLE's from day 1 with USMLE's type question in their examx??

Any additional information would be appreciated???

I just got back from 4 days on Sint Maarten, including wandering around AUC.

On Sint Maarten it seems you'd really need a car to get anywhere, it's a big island and the stores, etc seem quite a distance. I've got no idea about busses, though. On Saba, there's prettymuch nowhere to go, really - Windwardside is less than a mile from the school (all uphill), and you can hitch anywhere.

Saba may be a bit boring, but I'm not here to be entertained - I'm here to become a physician.

i choose saba for my medical education because it is on a very safe island, small class sizes (i don't expect anything over 80), good res. match rate, good usmle pass rate, and good track record with canadian students, and of course, california approval and eventual 50 state approval.

I chose SABA because of...

1. High pass rates on the USMLE
2. Accrediation and (eventual) licensure in all states
3. Guaranteed U.S. clinicals
4. Smaller, more personal class size
5. Friendly and helpful staff
6. Small island- less distractions
7. Safe and friendly locals
8. Price


Besides the statistical benefit of chosing SABA, I am REALLY impressed with the smal class sizes. For me, it is easier to learn in smaller class sizes with less distractions and more interactions with my professor and fellow students.

It's also a perk that there are neighboring "resort" islands whenever you get the time to relax and unwind.

I left Saba for SGU. But if there is anything I like about Saba, it is the smaller class size (smaller than the big three, but by no means small ~ 80 students) and the teaching staff (met some of the better professors in my last 10 years of undergrad career)

Of the two semesters at Saba, I would say histology is the weakest (but I heard it is better now)

What I like most about the island is the fellow students. Though not everyone will agree with me, but I've met some good friends and still keep in touch after I left.

Saba uses shelf exams (actual past USMLE questions) in conjunction with the class material on some USMLE-important subjects i.e. Physio..etc. Also during their 5th semester, everyone is required to take the Kaplan course before taking Step I. You can't get a better help as far as the Boards are concerned.

Every school has pros and cons. You need to do a search on this forum for every school and "actually visit" their campuses in order to make an informed decision about which school is best for "you".

Saba has so many beaches that a few of them are bound to be clothing-optional.
