I am currently waiting to hear about my admission decision to Ross's January class. I have a question in the meantime though- If I scored really well on the USMLE Step I exam, would it be possible to do clinical rotations at a non-Ross affiliated medical site in Chicago, such as Rush Presbyterian, UIC, or even Northwestern University? I read someone else's posting who said they did their clinicals at a non-Ross site. If anyone could let me know how I could do this, it would be helpful...thanks!

While I don't know anything about those particular hospitals, you are allowed to set up your own clinical rotations. The facilities must be teaching facilities and willing to allow you to rotate there. Once you have communicated with the hospital medical education office and they have committed to train you there, the Ross office will aid in doing the necessary paperwork to bring that to fruition for you. You may want to contact the clinical dean to find out the details when you get close to that point in your education. Best of luck!

Ross students commonly rotate at st anthonys with northwestern students, cook county, with UIC and Rush students, weiss memorial with u of chicago students, micheal reese with UIC students, and jackson park is a Chicgao med hospital, but i also rotated there with rush and UIC students. we are limited at some of those as to what exactly you can do, and most require you do do your basic cores at Jackson park. we also were required to do 8 weeks of peds and 8 weeks of OB (instead of the 6 of each ross requires) to do anything at cook county.

for new york clerkships, are ross students only limited to the smaller hospitals like they are in chicago?
