I have somewhat of a predicament. Im scheduled to take Step 1 on October 23rd. I am not feeling totally ready-don't know if I ever will. I have already extended my appointment once, but am unable to do so again. I have also failed once previously and am afraid of doing the same thing a second time. Would you one throw away $600 or so dollars and reschedule it for January to March block, or take a test drive on October 23rd and see what happens? Thanks for the advice.

nobody ever feels "ready" for the exam. if u can't postpone it without losing the money, i'd just take the exam and see what happens. its already paid for

did u do anything differently the 2nd time around? like a kaplan course or something? do lots and lots of questions. qbank seems to be the best thing out there, but do practice questions from anywhere u can. best of luck!

I agree with the above post. Unless you feel that you have NO improvement at all, you should just take the exam and see how it goes, rather than wasting the money. No one will ever feel "ready" for the exam, and delaying it will only bring you back to the same situation in the near future. I have seen enough experiences to give out this advice  Best wishes and tell us how it goes!

Hi

I think the main issue is what you aspire to achieve. If you just require a simple pass 75+ then you should take it cos even if you are truly not ready there is still a chance effect that you will pass. What was your score last time? On the other hand if you require a high score and you really have not improved since last attempt then you should not take it as you might passed but be condemned with a low score.

The other way to answer is our you doing self assessment questions. If you are doing Q-bank and achieving scores above 60% I would think you are safe. If struggling to reach 50% you will probably fail.

I agree with the other authors that you can never be ready for this exam. I think regardless of your state of preparation, aggresive revision over the next week can make a difference. Do nothing else but go through 100s of Q-bank questions a day...that could make the difference between passin or failing or a low score and a higher score.

Best of luck

I got pretty much demolished the 1st time. Now, my QBank scores are hovering around 60%. I am looking to just pass-looking at FP or Medicine. Thanks for all of the advice.
