I am 2 months out from finishing my PGY-2 here at Mayo in Scottsdale AZ. Fam Med is going great, call is more and more sparse which is really nice as life in general gets alot better. I would encourage any Saba grad who is interested in family medicine with decent board scores to apply for residency here. Scottsdale AZ is a beautiful place, the name is solid, and the residency program is hardly one of scut work. The ancillary services are stellar and you will have little to no busy work. Did I forget to mention 310 days of sunshine a year. Anyhow I was nominated from my program to be in the running for resident of the year in Arizona. I know that and a dollar bill will get me a cup of coffee at McDonalds but the reason I bring it up is that since I have a Saba Degree, that will certainly open their eyes to Saba applicants in the future. I think if your scores on step one and two are above a 210 that would be a reasonable bench mark to apply. If you are thinking about specializing and want Internal medicine I would not waste your time or money as this program here in Internal Med is unlikely to accept a foreign grad. Anyhow good luck to all and have a good holiday, enjoy the rock, I acutally miss it.

good sh!t scotty.

do you plan to practice in AZ when you're done? how important is it that you conduct your residency in the state you want to practice?
