I was wondering if I could get some help in finding information about Residency Matching/Acceptance Rates of Caribbean schools. I understand that they're lower than the US medschool rates, but I am looking for info specific to the medical schools in the Caribbean. I'm also looking for info about drop-out rates and about successful transfers back to the US (if that's even possible). If anyone can point me to the right direction or provide me with info from their respective schools, I'd appreciate it.

I dont think you will find information that compares each school and residency rates in the carribean. You may want to contact each school individually. 99% of Saba's graduates who pass Step One , Step Two, and CSA and are therefore eligible for ECFMG certification get a residency. The only students who have difficulty are students with multiple USMLE failures and attempts or a Major Visa Issue. I cant speak for the class make up currently but when I was on Saba the majority of students were US citizens and secondly Canadians and Im sure it hasnt changed that much from 4 years ago. If you have no major visa issues and pass the boards preferably on the first attempt, and are not psychotic, you will not have a problem getting a residency. I had the same questions and concerns when I first looked into this deal back in 1996. It took me four years to get my act together and finally do it. AMG's will certainly have first shot at the more competitive residencies and of course the better University Programs. If Int. Med or Fam Med or Psyche is an acceptable option then you do not have anything to worry about. Do well on the boards as this is the first screening process for earlier interviews and of course at more desireable programs. You cant get ranked by a program if you dont interview there. Board Scores are hardly everything but its the first foot in the door. You can be the nicest guy in the world with letters of Recomm. from the Pope but you need to first get that foot in the door.
