That's pretty much the case. I do know people who live in places where they flush everything, but I'm not sure their landlords know. It's all about taking care of the septic tank. Seems odd at first, but believe me you soon don't think much about it. Keep in mind that it's often the case on other islands that you don't flush paper products there either (I know it's true in some places on SXM). Just depends on the local septic system.

Not a big price to pay to go to Med School.

I have heard the saying "If it is yellow let it mellow, if it is brown, flush it down". On the islands I have been to, they flushed the wipe for brown with the brown. I have never heard of not flushing the toilet paper. Reduction in the number of flushes has to do with the need to conserve water on the very small islands. Most of the water you use must come from a cistern which catches rain water from the roof.
