Is there anyone out there who has been accepted into the May 2004 semester? Just thought it would be nice to get to know a few of you. I received my acceptance letter about 2 weeks ago.... it's nice to have that monkey off my back!! Also I'm curious, does anyone know if Saba is still accepting students for January 04? I listed January as my preferred starting semester but got May instead. Maybe January was full.... Anyway, I don't really mind. I'm just excited to have the opportunity of becoming a physician. During my research of Saba University, I contacted dozens of recent graduates and they were ALL more than willing to give information and share their experiences about Saba. Several even phoned me out of the blue to personally talk about things. It was a great help...

I got accepted last week Tuesday. And I live in Englewood, Colorado. I applied for January but I changed to May 2004 because by that time I would probably train someone to replace me at work.

We should get a basketball team together so we could play AUC, I hear they have a team. Our team name could be the "Saba Sabortooths" :D Kind of catchy, eh?? Seriously, like we'll have time to play a lot of basketball.

Hey guys,
I was also accepted for May 2004. Could you guys tell me how do I get to the island? Do I book a flight straight to Saba? Also, would my sprint phone work there? Do I need to buy another phone? Do I need my own computer? Help!

Hi,
I don't know about the phones but in order to get to Saba you must take a flight to St. Maarten (SXM) and from there you can either get a plane ticket via WinAir or take the ferry. Both the ferry and WinAir tickets are inexpensive as it's a very short trip (21 nautical miles).
The website for WinAir is http://www.fly-winair.com/. I believe that SXM is the only place that you can go to Saba from, that is certainly how every student gets there.
Do a search on this forum to get all the details such a price and schedule.
Good Luck!

Regarding the Sprint cell phone, All I know is that you need to take with u a GSM "world phone" and upon arrival on the island you have to purchase a sim card from the cell phone company.
I am not sure of the exact details but I hope this helps.

Greetings and congratulations to all of the new incoming students! I'm starting my third semester here on Saba in May. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but having lived here for 8 months I would say I have a clue. I'm staying on Saba for the break, and other than getting my SCUBA certification next week I have no real plans, so I actually have time to answer some posts. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or are currently having a mini panic attack!
Take care,
SID
