"Mr. Ezell does not know if any North American doctors are operating with fake degrees, but recalls that after U.S. postal inspectors purchased a degree from a Caribbean medical school 20 years ago, 92 people with its fake diplomas were found to be fulfilling residencies in U.S. hospitals. "In one horrible case, an anesthetist had conducted many operations-until one of his patients turned blue on the table and was rendered a vegetable. He'd had some medical training of a minor nature and just did a lot of reading."

20 years ago medical schools in the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC were caught selling fake diplomas and were shut down. This created a bad name for all schools in the caribbean, even for those good schools, because of the blanket association. And it has taken 20 years and probably will take more to overcome this unfortunate, and misleading assocation; however with the continuing success of graduates from certain established schools, we are gradually adding credibility.
Now, what should be interesting from a consumer advocate standpoint, is scrutinizing medical schools that graduate MDs that have a high rate of malpractice lawsuits, ie howard, meharry, UAG to name a few. I don't think that Ross and SGU have any concerns.
