Hey,

I've been thinking about getting the TOEFL and TSE out of the way, ASAP. I've read lots on their website - which seems abit "overkill". Can anyone comment on the sources they used or is it relatively a "walk in the park" for native speakers of English (as I am)? Also can you do both the TOEFL and TSE on the same day?

Hi,

I am a Sint Eustatius Student but I can tell you the toefl exam is not a problem. After you pass the USMLE step 1, go ahead and take the toefl. Do not waste money or time on this exam. I just went into it totally blind, I did not even know what was tested, and made a perfect score. This is of course if you previously studied in the US.

If you are taking the exams after March 2004, the toefl exam is no longer required, so the match period is the last time IMG's will be required to take the toefl.

Starting in 2004, there will be Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS. Check the USMLE site for update.

I actually did not do studies in the US, but Canada - so I'm assuming we have the same English background. Anyhow, I am aware of the new USMLE Step2 CK and CS but am also planning to write the Canadian boards and some residencies require the TOEFL/TSE...so I'm playing it safe. Thanks for the info - and I guess I will register for a date. Or can you just walk in off the street??

I went to the center and registered, then I took the toefl the next day.
