I just found this website and I am so relieved to get some answers to my questions. I have a couple more!! I'm married and have a 1 year old son. I kind of feel like the odd man (woman) out. I'm worried that being the "mom" might harm my chances. Is it somewhat common to have women with children attending school? I've heard that it is not necessary to have a degree? I'm hoping this is true then I will be able to get there a little sooner. Thanks again to everyone for all the help!!

I can't imagine being a mom would hurt your chances of being accepted to to the school, but I don't know how common that is. No one with a reasonable plan to acheive their goals and the proper qualifications should be turned away. You don't need a bachelors to get into Saba. Just 90 credit hours and all the pre-reqs. Good luck with your app!

Two of the best students in the rising 4th semester class are women with children. Don't think that being a Mom should automatically stop you from pursuing your goals.

Best of Luck!

There was a single mother on Saba with her daughter, she transferred to another school after her 4th semester on Saba, because she was dissappointed with the Basic Science program Saba offered. This was the class that began Jan. 2000 and several other students from this class transferred to Statia.

She is completeing her clinicals and has passed her exams. She will match in 2004 and I am sure she will do very well. Before going to Saba she was an RN and recently she told me she is applying for surgery.

Being a mother is medical school is difficult, but it can be done.
