How hard is it to be admitted into Saba Medical School??? Has anyone been rejected??? What were your stats when you were accepted and/or rejected? What would my chances be with a 2.5 science GPR 2.9 overall and with community college credits totalled into that it would be 3.0 - 3.1 and a major GPR of 3.5. 2 bad semesters, but taken all the classes over again to replace those bad semesters and got A's and B's. I have 4000 hours of community service working in clinics and hospitals. Have first hand experience with medical field because I was responsible for my grandparents throughout college and constantly had to take them to the hospital, basically LIVING THERE, have held many leadership positions in clubs in university. I have great speaking skills and speak 7 languages fluently and I have not taked my MCAT yet and hope to apply before I take it. Do I have a chance to be accepted??? Do you think Saba Medical school would accept me ever and if not what could I do to make my application better? Thank you for all your help.

I was just accepted. Here are my stats:

Undergrad GPA 3.75 - B.A. in German Language & Literature and Biomedical Sciences

Graduate GPA 3.88 - M.B.A. in Market Strategy

I chose the Caribbean route because I haven't taken the MCAT and don't want to wait until September 2005 to enroll in a stateside medical school.

The best way to find out is to apply! Good luck.

Good lord with your stats you could get into an excellent U.S. med school. Why would you have to wait to Sep. 05 to take the MCAT? IT should be offered again in April. A US program is always preferable to a foreign one.

I think Mutig25 was referring to the fact that he would only be eligible to matriculate into a U.S. medical school during the 2005 school year. Since he has not taken the MCAT and it is not offered until next April, that means he can't be accepted for September 2004. He has missed this years application cycle. He would have to take the MCAT next April then start applications in June for acceptance into the FOLLOWING years class. (September 2005)

The MCATs are offered in April and August. I didn't take them this August so I can't attend a US med school starting in Sept of 04. Therefore, the next possible start date is Sept 05. I don't want to wait that long. That a US medical school is preferrable to a Caribbean one is apparent. However, to make that assumption about all foreign schools is short-sighted, particulary when speaking of Western European medical schools.

I would really recommend you call Gardner to get the facts about where you stand and what you can do to improve your chances. I found them to be extremely helpful as I went through the admissions process. Give it a try and I think it might put your mind at rest.

Best of Luck!
