I really don't understand some of the mud slinging that goes on between some of the carribean schools. The bottom line is that you can tell how good a school is by examining their residency list. And by doing that it is clear that St. George's, Ross, AUC, and Saba are the best caribean schools. All of those schools have placed students into good residencies. And you don't get a good residency without good board scores. I just had my Ross interview on Wednesday but will probably be attending Saba simply because they were the first to accept me and my tuition deposit is due by sept. 15. I think Ross will probably accept me too and it would be nice to have a choice but I feel like either school is a good choice. I also doubt that Saba students have to take showers with buckets and that Dominica is the southside Chicago of the caribean as some of the people with "interests" like to advertise.

Actually I know a guy who's a 3rd-year at Saba. While he did indulge himself in his studies and did ok on boards and is happy now that he is in America, he said he wouldn't recommend Saba due to the harsh living conditions. He said sometimes the food shipments wouldn't arrive and food would be scarce. He also said when it didn't rain for prolonged periods of time water would be very scarce.

Yes, that is what I was referring to. Its not mud-slinging at all. Its a fact that SABA students have told me about. The food "market" does come on boats once per week - don't miss it when that boat comes in!
Best of luck wherever you choose!

Rwl,
I can understand your train of thought at this point in time. You'd rather choose SABA for x,y,z reasons...
I could have seen your perspective up until recently when we had a SABA lecturer do a guest spot here at Ross. Most definitely it was not even close to the standard of lecturers we get here at Ross.
Seriously, the medical school curriculum is by far quite difficult, and a key to getting good results is good lecturers. The hell with food and all that other stuff that you can figure out anywhere as long as people arent starving. You get what you pay for and thats especially true with lecturers and facilities.
If you get into both schools, you'd be hard pressed not to choose Ross over Saba for the academic reasons alone.
Best of luck with your choice,

A good base to go by I would say is where the MCAT service provides options to send scores...out of the list I only saw SGU, AUC and Ross U., Saba U. was not included.
