I just read the post from DRU, I'm going to be attending in January and I just wanted to know a few things

1. Is it safe to walk around alone during the day?
2. Will I get robbed if I go into town by myself during the day?

3. Where is the best place to live, I have heard of PBH, Lizard trail, and Banana Trail?
4. Do I need to come in two weeks in advance to find a decent spot near campus with security?

That's it for now, good luck on finals, and I can't wait to be a Doctor.

Good question. If there was one thing that I would say differently than Dru is the comments about not walking around with a purse. Now I'd agree that you will do a lot of walking and walking around with a back-pack would be more convenient, but you are totally safe walking around here with a purse. Just like anywhere else though, don't be stupid with it. SO, to answer your question, YES you are very safe here. The locals are very friendly and you should have no fear of being robbed or attacked during the day. At night, use your best judgement and walk with a group or take the free transports.

Probably about 80% of the students live either on or near the Banana Trail or the Lizard Trail. Both are fine to live it. PBH should really only be left for those who get here really late and have no other options. Can you imagine living and studying in a really old and worn down Motel 6 room for 16 months???

Yes, you always should get here about two weeks early. I moved into my dorm room in undergrad a week early and everything was taken care of for me. You are moving out of the states with no housing plans (its okay, don't stress). Get here early, get settled, and enjoy a Caribbean vacation while you can!!!
