I am currently a double major in biology and philosophy and will be graduating in June 2004. My overall GPA is a 2.68 and my science GPA is
about a 2.4. My philosophy GPA is about a 3.5. I have already taken the MCAT and did not do so well (20R). However, I have continously taken an
extremely rigorous class load and have challenged myself to the max. I
have a TON of clinical experience in that I work in two different pediatric clinics, a hospital, and am a licensed EMT. In all these positions, I have been able to get a lot of one on one time with patients and doctors. Furthermore, I have a great deal of research experience. I also work 20 hours a week. The list goes on. I have a very strong motivation and am willing to work as hard as it takes to become a physician because it's my dream. Do I have a chance for acceptance for the Sept. 2004 med program at AUC?

Look back at other posts - current and past students say to apply if your GPA is around or under 3.0. Like they say, its worth a shot! Personally, I can't share a lot from experience - I had a rather high undergrad GPA, with a 20 on the MCAT, and lots of experience.

This should get you in. Your undergrad GPA isn't hot in the science area, but you can claim heavy courseloads and working, etc... whatever. The best thing you can do is just apply and find out. I know from experience that AUC heavily favors clinical experience, and your research experience will help, too. Get some of your profs, docs, etc. to write you some stellar letters of rec, and I would bet you would get in.

Just hang in there, and keep pursuin' your dreams!
